free shows with bigger bands, donations don't cut it, and even tho some people donated 5 bucks, the most of the kids who randomly showed up, didn't bring donations. if this wasn't friends, i woulda lost money, and i'm trying to have other, non nc bands, so gas money will be asked for, and i'm not looking to be a lame person not paying bands for driving 200+ miles. the show made decent of donations, and i'm happy everyone who did donate, did, but it's pretty much the max i could see happening there and bringing in other bands who have to drive, i see it just losing money, and i don't have the money to pay a band 100+ dollars just to watch them play at a record store, ya know?

manifest sucks. old manifest sucked less.
lunchbox for life. will support people involved in punk and hardcore, over a chain owned business every day for the rest of my life.

true.... but manifest is still fun to tear apart.
and a show there is usually the only reason that can happen.
lunchbox shows are fun but people are more apt to respect the surrounding merchandise, which is awesome.

"requiring donations"
hahaha
that just sounded funny.
i think someone should invent a new word for that.

we've been requiring donations at lunchbox, and payed every band a lot over the last few months. you can't "require" donations at manifest due to the fact that its a chain store, plus how are we to "require" random people who are in no way interested in the music, who just show up to buy some random movie or album? plus, the shows are done during business hours, as opposed to lunchbox shows happening after his 8pm closing time. plus anyone showing up the night of a show at lunchbox is normally there just for the show.

yeah, thats why i never understood why shows were done at manifest in the first place.
fuck...vfw's all over central/plaza have signs up about renting them out. and if you know a vet it's pretty straight forward to book shows there. its how a lot of the north east does shows.

yea i know all about how vfw's in the north east are the awesome thing to do. i also don't know any vets. so blam, i'm doing what i can with what i know in charlotte, and i don't have the time to sign up for things that'll never respond. there's a rec center across from my apartment with no contact info and its randomly rented out, which of course when i noticed and can get back in the area, everyone's gone. it has a shitty parking situation tho (like maybe 10 cars).

place was shady as hell. played one show there it was terrible. no promotion. no order at all not to mention the dirty shit scattered through the "venue" and the underage alcohol sales. that place is not missed.

yea i laughed at rebecca and she wanted me to help with that early this year, and told her it wouldn't last the summer. i guess i gave them too much time, since they technically still have 15ish days of summer.

i remember that the guy told us a ton of people would be there cuz they don't have anything else to do in that area
then the night we played there,
"oh they all went to the lake"
so i started wondering...
if these kids had the ability to go hang out at the lake,
what the fuck were they doing wasting time in an enlarged storage space?
then i answered my own question when i found myself staying in the amazing a/c drinking stolen pbr meant for underage sales.
every summer has its comedy relief, summer of 08 = crack soup
