I do it.
Plain and simple. Is it right? Definitely not, especially for hardcore bands and any other DIY starving artist.
But, simply put, i dont have the money to buy all the music i download.
I still support a ton by buying t shirts and records.
If i was a billionaire, i would never pirate music.
I have a rich friend who never downloads anything, only buys it. And that rules.

i use ruckus. if you don't know what that is it's a music download software program that is only avalible for college students. there are thousands if not millions of WHOLE albums available just by signing in with your active college e-mail. these mp3s are neither burnable nor transferable. so you have them on your comp and can listen to them on their and thats it. anyone that burns local music is a fucken douche anyone that burns hardcore bands is in the same category because theres no money in hardcore we all know that. half the tunes i have on ruckus i have a copy of the album becuase i support hardcore and i support hard working bands.
the only way you can download hardcore illegally is to sample and see if the tracks/album is something your into. if you like it you should buy the album not keep downloading the other tracks, unless you want hardcore to die. but hey, thats your choice.
ps im drunk so sorry for the rant/grammatical errors.

off-topic.
i just finished watching the 60's tv series of batman the other day. totally worth downloading.... since 10+ entities own rights to the show and refuse to work something out for it to actually be released on dvd, plus i can't find it on tv anymore (then again i don't check tv land often).

There is probably no way I would be into or have as much music as I do have if It was not for pirating music software or friends sending me stuff. I buy merch when I can, and I like records more than I prefer cd's flimsiness, vinyl just is amazing I like when I get a new vinyl in the mail or at a show. Read the lyrics, have the album artwork and the physical album in my hands and listening to it on my record player is a dope feel. Pirating music has ruined basically the cd market for that, its just more technology in our hands the more things go out. As before pirating you had to go to your local record store and dig through stuff to find bands and go home and listen to it, instead of hearing it on internet websites and downloading the album. Or you'd pick up the album at the bands show, if you liked them live.

anyone here just despise the idea of paying to download albums? i'd much rather have the hardcopy in my hand, than spent 10 bucks on files which i may or maynot be able to burn to cd.

as for downloading, i plan on buying united nations when it comes out, but i just downloaded some weird rip of it where all but 1 track is 192bitrate, plus all the rips i found have 2 tracks misordered, and the album is in order on myspace, which all other tracklists have the 2 songs misordered, so it makes me believe they've probably got a misprint issue with the first pressing?

Have they started presales for the first press?

it comes out last week. its got a limited edition cover from eyeball records. don't think they've got vinyl pressings announced yet.
i'm just saying that some times albums have misprinted tracklistings due to last minute order changes or what not, for example, theres a weezer album, forget which, where theres a song thats not the actual version they ment to have on the album, so the versions in stores now aren't the original version of the album due to fixing the mistake. it seems like they've reordered the tracks themselves, only 2, and that change might not have been made to the actual printed art, and they're rushing this out (as in they've hyped the existence for a month or so, then randomly announced it comes out in 2 weeks), so its possible what is in stores at first might be misprinted shit...
OR.. some idiot tagged the mp3s wrong, but every rip i see is wrong, so whatever. its possible if these people are ripping from an advance copy, it could be wrong on that instead.
and this has become a mindless rant.
