no we need a legit venue that allows outside promotors to book and doesn't think they understand the way every scene and every type of music works. you're never going to get decent tour packages until you get that. and sorry to the DIY hearts out there but that's what we need because thats the way things are run now.

you might wanna remove tremont from that list, it being the most unfriendly to promoters who aren't sucking their dick.

i know you've had problems with them, and i haven't been to a show there in ages, but they let some people book there, granted, the fucking place is complete bullshit, but still.
what venues haven't gone through periods of shityness ANYWHERE?! it's not possible to name a venue that hasn't had shit talked about it at one point in time, or gone through a bad owner. the milestone NOW is awesome, but originally it fucking sucked (granted, i was only there at the very end of the milestone, which i guess was like, try 2 or 3). new milestone rules though.

i've tried to book several shows at lunchbox my e-mails never get returned and same wiht tremont for sure. you can tell me i don't know what hardcore is all you want whatever you're wrong. but tours happen there are packages whine about it all you want but it is what it is. we need a venue that's not lunchbox records sorry if that hurts your feelings but it's true. and i've been going to charlotte shows for over 5 years so yeah i've been here.

i dont' mean to talk down or whatever. but there are venues.
ritter house is obvious. there is another house in the plaza midwood that is the guys from exit box that is supposedly doing shows...though i have yet to actually see one. milestone still does hardcore and punk shows, a handful of rock hill houses were doing stuff for a while. its not just about bringing people outside in, you also have to have people interested in the bands, which, for better or for worse, is why a place like yau haus was so successful in getting people out, but failed sometimes at getting people interested in the music.

not even speaking on my problems, bill from sleepless studios, part of takedown agency, who book tour packages in raleigh and greensboro, was ignored by them when trying to bring some of those shows to charlotte.
plus fuck trying to pay bands when you're going into it 400 dollars in the red as is, and then only getting 60% after that 400 is made. tremonts a bullshit venue built on past booking contacts who just book there because they have in the past. they seem to not know shit about current music and if they actually do book something "new" its a fluke.
(thats all about tremont. the milestone is awesome.)

oh yeah ofcourse you have to get kids interested which why you build a community around the music. you just know if you've been on the road which if this is the rob i think it is i know you have that playing a house every other night can blow. i just think we need a venue that is just for that a venue that isn't a house or a record store or a 18+ bar type deal. i mean there are hall's all over charlotte that no ones renting out. i tried to rent one out and the owner will never get back to me. there's just a lot more that could be done than is being done.

Im pretty sure that even "tour packages", and I use that term loosely, won't even fill small outlets in Charlotte (houses, record stores, coffee shops, etc). Why waste the time finding a "proper venue" if we can't even get 20 kids into a house or a small record store? I think that everybody in this thread has very valid points, and I'm not arguing with anyone. I think a new venue could be a good thing eventually, but we need to get kids interested in the first place. Start with a house or a basement, and if that becomes too small, then expand. Purchasing an office space, renting a dav hall, etc. is going to cost money. Most of us don't have this.

dude have you ever been to a dav hall show? i mean its young kids but they pack the place out no matter who's playing. and think about it like this. kids from charlotte drive 3-5 hours for a good show, why wouldn't kids do that if a show was happening here? and a "tour package" not used loosely, can fill a venue in charlotte. i mean i'm sorry that everyone isn't into the punk rock/hardcore that you guys are but to say that a venue in charlotte couldn't be filled is sad.

i guess you're talking about different music. ie, double negative playing here about two years ago, to ten or twelve people, whereas b9 bands can pack out places like tremont i'm sure.
granted, shit has gotten way rad, and i'm not saying another venue wouldn't be awesome, i'm just saying we have it pretty good. we have a bunch of bands playing, and people going to shows. if you really think something needs to change then do it.

the last band was agnostic front almost 2 years ago.

but thats agnostic front. they played tremont cause they're abillion years old and the people at tremont actually knew who they were. i'm sure DBD played there recently (a year or so) as well.
the rest would only play tremont because they're on some random tour with a headliner that people at tremont know will sell alcohol.

yeah i forgot about DBD(d)
i wonder if we could get the remaining hardcore bands alive to play the small room.
the show would consist of
double negative government warning logic problem holy crows a hero a fake
it'd be so DIY!!!!

Crime In Stereo and NFG played tremont a few months ago as well if I'm correct. Not together... but they both played there. Both are B9 bands.... just sayin'.

i don't think that counts, no matter when they played. they're not playing tremont because they're on B9, they're playing because they're NFG.
