i've lived in charlotte since 2006 and like it a good deal. i didn't mind UNCC. i didn't have much of a "college" experience but it wasn't like i wanted to join frats or go to games and that seems to be the whole college thing. we have a lot of cool venues in the area and all of them have something at one point or another. if you need a list of places to check out here it goes... venue/spaces: lunchbox records, milestone, snug harbor, tremont, sewercide every once and a while there is cool stuff (depending on what you are into) at these places: neighborhood theatre, visulite, and amos'. i don't want to necessarily post local bands because there are a lot of them. there is a decent mixture and for the most part, in recent years, a lot of us are pretty cordial to one another even if the styles are way different (as it should be). there are a few awesome punk bands, indie bands, and other stuff that is relatively diy and independent that doesn't necessarily fall into the first two categories. there is sometimes a lack of international//national acts coming through when compared to other cities but i think we have it pretty good. lots of good shows in raleigh, greensboro, and asheville as well. hope you have fun. I appreciate the advice man. I know of some of the bigger venues like Tremont, and I love Lunchbox Records, but I'll look into snug harber and swercide. I'm into all kinds of music, so I can get into punk bands, indie bands, hc bands, etc, etc. I hope to get into booking shows once I know people, so I'd love to help bring national acts.

We do have Swans, Lemonheads, Meat Puppets, Nothington, Banner Pilot, Bane, Miles Away, Exhumed, Mayhem, Helmet, and The Jayhawks all coming in the next couple months so it really isn't that bad when it comes to national//international acts.

sounds great. who should I talk to about booking? I'm just trying to get my/my brother's band from Greensboro a show here. We'd love to do a house show or something.

helmet is playing at neighborhood theatre. i wouldn't get too excited about that show, the last few albums have sucked.

yeah I saw them play in Greensboro where they played all of their album Meantime. I can imagine it would've sucked if they had played different songs
