hey everybody, I sorta forgot I had an account here but figured I'd post up! my name is John Rivera, and alongside my brother, wife and a couple friends we run Headfirst! Records and been lurking around NC for a long time now. many years ago I loosely started a project where I planned on cataloging show fliers from the triad region focusing on when I started going to shows here in 1997 up to present. a misfortunate event of having all my fliers stolen many years ago (amongst other things) sort of soured me on the idea.
skip forward a few years later and Big Dave from Codeseven dumped scans of tons of the fliers for shows he did, and rekindled my interest, began grabbing and saving anything I came across online but till never got motivated to actually work on a website or database and really get it going.
skip forward even more years and probably 200 fliers saved away in a folder - decided two months ago it was go time and I was going to make this into a very comprehensive online database - as it sits right now there are over 2200 entries in the database and slightly over 700 of those entries of scans or digital fliers attached.
it is super fucking comprehensive. i still have a ton of coding work on the backend to do and only part of the shell of the frontend is in place, but you can get a good idea of how crazy it is by checking out:
www.page63.com/NCshows/browse.php
the fliers are not uploaded or attached to the database yet (other than a few in the Pablos/533 Uprisings section - which were just to test to make sure it all worked/functioned right) there also is not a lot of data for 2010 to present on there since most of those are way easy to find if you have the time to search old facebook events and google.
so this is where help is needed... I need fliers! scans of fliers and lots of them! also any shows to contribute. if you have boxes of old stuff laying around and want to help out or maybe you have other friends that you know have hordes of that kind of stuff. put them in touch! get in touch! easiest way to reach me is e-mail xfearnogodx at gmail dot com
tentatively planning on having the whole website operational and up within the next month - contributions welcome! just get in touch and I can let you know easiest ways to help me to add data to it!
