I'm trying my hardest to stay up to date with releases this year.
I've been digging and listening a lot to:
Alcest - Les Voyages Cheap Girls - Giant Orange Black Breath - Sentenced to Life The Boston Strangler - Primitive (Though I'm not sure if it came out this year) The new Ceremony is kind of cool, though I was never huge on the band.
What are you guys listening to from 2012/looking forward to?

This is just my opinion, but I'm not really too stoked on the new Black Breath. It just sounds like and extended edition of their last cd...

Can anyone recommend me new folk, dream-pop, noise that's not punk influenced and hip hop? It depends on your hip-hop preferences I suppose but I really like Phonte's new record that came out at the end of last year, Charity Starts At Home. NC hip-hop.

Never get tired of the old school bands, and rarely have luck finding bands that play similar music, so does ANYBODY have any recommendations for current bands who play 90's, second gen "emo", post-hardcore, punk in the vein of Twelve Hour Turn, Four Hundred Years, early Engine Down, Indian Summer, Stop It!!, Yage, Sleepytime Trio, Life At These Speeds, older Sinaloa, and even Shotmaker??? It seems like people aren't making these kind of bands anymore, which is really depressing, as that was an era unparalleled and we are in desperate need of some sort of "revival". I am listening to the new Cloud Nothings record, which Albini did an AMAZING job with, and it does contain a little of the old post-hardcore spirit, but it's no Hoover. Anyway, I'm new to the board and this is my first post, so if I am only repeating a question that has been asked s million times, I do apologize, but since I moved to Charlotte 2 years ago, I sort of lost touch with the CURRENT "post-hardcore/emo" scene, and have only witnessed a disgusting MTV styled emo scene, which is quite sad because most of these kids have NEVER even heard of Rites of Spring, and have no idea where their brand of music originated. Thank you to ANYONE who may have some positive, or even negative, feedback for me.

I just finished listening to the new Unsane record. It's great.
Also, the Split Cranium record is pretty good, some awesome songs, some boring ones. It's pretty punk rock for an Aaron Turner record.

I'm hoping Xibalba's new record, whenever it comes out, is just as good if not better than their last.

Just snagged Baroness-Yellow & Green.
I wasn't sure about it based on the few tracks I heard beforehand, but I'm actually digging it quite a bit. Go into it w/ an open mind and don't expect a "heavy" record though. Feels like a pretty natural progression from the Blue Record imo.
