NEW RELEASES: THE SHIRKS "S/T" 12" and BIG EYES "Demo 2010" 7" Out Now!
Two new releases out now! THE SHIRKS "S/T" 12" and the BIG EYES "Demo 2010" 7" are now available for order in the Grave Mistake Webstore! We've been talking about these two releases for quite a while it seems (as they were both intended to come out last year), but after many delays we are thrilled to finally have 'em ready to roll! I'm going to keep this update short and sweet because I've also got a few rad new webstore / distro items as well.
For THE SHIRKS 12", we've got 100 copies on limited RED VINYL so grab one while you can; no limited mailorder version for the BIG EYES 7" (sorry to the nerds, hopefully you grabbed a tour version!), but the record rules regardless so pick it up if you haven't yet. We've also got a couple of package deals running if you missed some of these bands' earlier releases, so check those out too!

GRAVE057: BIG EYES "Demo 2010" 7"
Finally available again! The original pressing of this 7" on Evil Weevil Records sold out pretty fast and has been unavailable for some time, so we were thrilled when they asked Grave Mistake to assist in a repress! This slab delivers the first four BIG EYES offerings that were simply too good to remain confined to cassette format. If you've picked up their "Hard Life" full length or "Back from the Moon" single, then you will know what to expect; catchy as hell power-pop-punk that draws from an assortment of influences ranging from 70s rock and roll to 80's power pop to 90s alt/punk. GRAVE056: THE SHIRKS "S/T" 12"
The fifth release from Washington DC's THE SHIRKS and their first 12"! On this new release, the boys burn through eight new tracks at 45 revolutions per minute with their brand of trashy, fuzzed out punk rock n' roll. I think it's safe to say that THE SHIRKS get better with each release, and this 12", which features some of the best tracks the band has put to vinyl yet, might also be their rawest and most primitive sounding release to date. This record is guaranteed to satisfy all of the pre-existing fan-boys and girls, and should leave some new heads turned as well. First 100 copies on RED VINYL!

SAUNA YOUTH "FALSE JESSI PT. 2" 7" (STATIC SHOCK)
London’s Sauna Youth follow up their acclaimed debut lp 'Dreamlands' with a brand new two track single on Static Shock, but those who are only hoping for Dreamlands Pt.II are likely to be disappointed. This is (for this release, at least) Sauna Youth reborn as a C86 indie pop band. These two female fronted tracks sound so good they could have been released back in the day on the Subway Organization or 53rd and 3rd. The music is raw and simple like a slowed down Ramones but the vocals are sugar sweet with lots of backing harmonies. If you love the Fizzbombs, The Flatmates or The Rosehips you will instantly fall in love with these two perfect under three minute indie pop gems.
HASSLER "AMORALITY" 7" (BEACH IMPEDIMENT)
Hot on the heels of their 2012 S/T EP released by Schizophrenic Records, Toronto’s HASSLER returns with another slab of knuckle dragging hardcore madness! “AMORALITY” features 5 tracks of harsh meat and potatoes hardcore punk that puts to shame many US bands that even attempt to harness that sound. Each record is housed in a thick glue pocket sleeve along with a cardstock insert, both of which are adorned with tasteful art by the mighty Spoiler. Retaining ferocity while staying memorable and avoiding the various pitfalls of the genre that so many succumb to, Hassler’s AMORALITY EP raises the bar considerably. Featuring current and former members of bands like BRUTAL KNIGHTS, CAREER SUICIDE, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, REPROBATES, and BAD SKIN- these guys know what they’re doing and they do it well. This is the black vinyl version, limited to 400 copies.
PERSPEX FLESH "ONA" 7" (VIDEO DISEASE)
Debut 7" by Perspex Flesh, one of the best UK hardcore bands I have heard in a long time. After hearing their demo tape I knew I had to release a record from this band, and when they sent me the final mix of these tracks I was simply blown away. This record is full of incredibly rough and nasty hardcore, Perspex Flesh takes cues from classic USHC, but manages to create their own unique sound. Ugly, nihilistic, and uncompromising, the four songs on this 7" will leave you breathless. This is hands down one of the best releases I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound for maximum impact. Limited to 500 copies on black/white mixed vinyl.
RAW MEAT "DEMO" 7" (VINYL RITES)
Remixed and remastered demo by these NY gentlemen. Members of the briefly lived Nomos and the always wonderful Rival Mob. I drop these names only because they are good reference points for what Raw Meat actually sounds like, hardcore.
VACCINE "DEAD INSIDE" 7" (PAINKILLER)
Vaccine return with their newest 10-song 7" of razor sharp hardcore. A relentless assault of blast beats, buzzsaw guitar and politically-charged misanthropic lyrics. Undoubtedly their most aggressive release to date.

CASANOVAS IN HEAT "RUINS" 7" (DERANGED)
Casanovas In Heat are a punk band from Boston, MA. Formed in 2010, neighborhood chums, Davy & Con (also of MALE NURSES) decided to take a whack at high-energy, sweat-induced, melodic punk that they had been screwing around with since they were teenagers. They recruited fellow mavericks, Steve & Sean, to complete the dream team. Sparked by a wide-range of influences, the Casanovas want nothing more than to turn every day into a night, and every night into a crusade. A solid mix of the REPLACEMENTS and NAKED RAYGUN.
STOIC VIOLENCE "S/T" LP (VIDEO DISEASE)
Debut 12" from this brand new southern California band. After a well received raw demo, the band decided to go a completely different route with recording techniques and entered a proper studio. The result of that session is presented here, eight songs of biting, hate-filled USHC executed to perfection. All the noisier elements of the demo tape are gone, instead the band opted for a clean, clear sound to grasp the full power of their sound. Chainsaw guitars, unhinged, out-of-control drumming, an incredibly fuzzy bass, and self-loathing vocals. The New Wave of USHC is here. Mixed at Dead Air Studios by Will Killingsworth, mastered and cut by Josh Bonati.
STRAIGHTJACKET NATION "LIVE ON PBS 8/3/07" LP" (NO PATIENCE)
Originally released on cassette and limited to 100 copies, it’s been 5 and a half years since Australia’s STRAIGHTJACKET NATION first took to the airwaves and this incredible live set was captured. A band known around the world for their rabid live shows this recording comes closer to capturing that raw energy and power than any before or since. 11 tracks of Cleveland influenced hardcore fury for fans of 9 SHOCKS TERROR, and H100s, including a cover from short lived Sydney group MASSTRAUMA. Searing guitar meets manic cat-in-a-bag style vocals backed up by relentless bass and drums. Wild and chaotic hardcore punk from one of Australia’s finest, featuring members of THE UV RACE, DICK DIVER, PISSCHRIST, BLOODY HAMMER, TOTAL CONTROL, EAST LINK, SUCIO PODER, and more.
SPECTRES "NOTHING TO NOWHERE" LP (DERANGED)
Spectres are a Post Punk band from Vancouver, B.C. originally formed largely as a studio only project by Brian Gustavson and Steve Hanker In Coombs, British Columbia. After self releasing several demos both Gustavson and Hanker relocated to Vancouver and brought Heather and Nathan Szilagyi in on Drums and Bass, and Zach Batalden in on second guitar. Heather Szilagyi would soon be replaced by Steve Gerenscer on drums, and after releasing two singles and touring the west coast with the Estranged Hanker would leave the band to be replaced by Tyler Pilling. 2010 saw the release of the band’s first full length LP, LAST DAYS which was followed in 2011 by a European tour and a split 7” with Arctic Flowers. NOTHING TO NOWHERE is the new album and the Spectres most ambitious to date, with ten new songs that push the band’s sound in new directions.
EAGULLS "S/T" LP (DERANGED)
The ferocious post-punk 5 piece bands, Eagulls based in Leeds, England are pleased to share their 5 track EP on Canada’s prestigious punk label Deranged. A few lucky folks have been able to catch the band’s European shows. The shows received high accolades as some of the most thrilling and visceral performances ever. EAGULLS has shared the stage with Iceage, Milk Music, Ceremony, and Fucked Up. The five tracks - “Coffin”, “Moulting”, “No If’s, No Buts”, “Cripple” and “Still Born”; Drawing from a wide variety of influences, EAGULLS manage to create something new, while still paying homage to classical punk.
LEFT FOR DEAD "DEVOID OF EVERYTHING" LP (A389)
Left For Dead's entire studio recorded output from 1996-1997, taken from the original 1/4" multi track reels by Kevin Bernstein. Featuring members of legendary Canadian hardcore band Chokehold, whose members went on to form Cursed, The Swarm, Haymaker, Pick Your side & Burning Love. Produced by James Plotkin (KHANATE). GEHENNA "NEGOTIUM PERAMBULANS IN TENEBRIS" LP (A389)
The band's first full length debut record from 2000 on vinyl with a a bonus track. Pure raw brutality, Gehenna is seething with primitive fury and laying waste with barbaric execution. Remastered by Brad Boatright with original artwork including a gatefold jacket with 18x18 poster insert. For fans of Integrity, Infest and Hellhammer. Vinyl comes with digital download codes.

RINGWORM "STIGMATAS IN THE FLESH" LP (A389)
Legendary Cleveland thrashers Ringworm release their first live album recorded in 2010 at A389's label 6th anniversary bash. Label head DR describes the night, "There was a lot of tension in the air. After Gehenna's set almost ended in a riot, RINGWORM took the stage and just leveled the place. It was truly one of the most vicious performances I've ever seen." NOTHING "DOWNWARD YEARS TO COME" 12" (A389)

SUSPECT - DEMO TAPE
"While the entire universe seems to be focusing on the last 12 months of music, it’s important to remember that if the end of the world is nigh, thank god some labels are still putting out music with a true “fuck it all” spirit. Enter Suspect, the new California-based hardcore act. An incestuous lineup to boot—members of Knife Fight (Nick Townsend who recorded the demo,) Tear It Up, Find Him and Kill Him, Deep Sleep and three members of Kent State, Suspect is a powerhouse. The band is Paranoid Futures owner/operator Nick Vance’s most aggressive work to date, hopefully a sign of more to come. The entire demo exists with incredible intensity, never once slowing or choking under its own ferocity. There are moments that ring true to the sound of the project Suspect’s members make up (a few feel oddly similar to the ‘80s SST sound of Vance’s Deep Sleep) while maintaining an energy so much more than the sum of their parts."

This record is full of incredibly rough and nasty hardcore, Perspex Flesh takes cues from classic USHC, but manages to create their own unique sound. Ugly, nihilistic, and uncompromising, the four songs on this 7" will leave you breathless. This is hands down one of the best releases I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Casanovas In Heat are a punk band from Boston, MA. STOIC VIOLENCE "S/T" LP (VIDEO DISEASE)
Debut 12" from this brand new southern California band. After a well received raw demo, the band decided to go a completely different route with recording techniques and entered a proper studio. The result of that session is presented here, eight songs of biting, hate-filled USHC executed to perfection. All the noisier elements of the demo tape are gone, instead the band opted for a clean, clear sound to grasp the full power of their sound. SPECTRES "NOTHING TO NOWHERE" LP (DERANGED)
Spectres are a Post Punk band from Vancouver, B.C. originally formed largely as a studio only project by Brian Gustavson and Steve Hanker In Coombs, British Columbia. After self releasing several demos both Gustavson and Hanker relocated to Vancouver and brought Heather and Nathan Szilagyi in on Drums and Bass, and Zach Batalden in on second guitar. Heather Szilagyi would soon be replaced by Steve Gerenscer on drums, and after releasing two singles and touring the west coast with the Estranged Hanker would leave the band to be replaced by Tyler Pilling. 2010 saw the release of the band’s first full length LP, LAST DAYS which was followed in 2011 by a European tour and a split 7” with Arctic Flowers. NOTHING TO NOWHERE is the new album and the Spectres most ambitious to date, with ten new songs that push the band’s sound in new directions.
