On the other hand, Raleigh needs a venue that books good shows. The brewery has good metal shows, and like one good hardcore show every year. I love everyone there though. Berkeley is like, an indie venue with terrible staffing. and I just hate lincoln. Too big, staff sucks, sound crew sucks. hanks been booking really good shit at the double down and aries lounge. i heard double down was out of comission due to the ale...that was mid summer when i was told that though

theres nothing wrong with any of the venues or places to play in charlotte or anywhere in the state for that matter
if there were, they would have shut down like all the rest already.
they're doing something you're not.
snorting lots of cocaine.

maybe someone's dad owns a autoshop. this idea was made possible a few years ago. a few bands [thieves and assassins' performance ruled] played in a closed shop up near university... good idea but sound quality is lacking.

it'd be cool with x318x would have more shows / set up a way for people to book shows through them at the college. i'm tired of knowing they get grants to pay bands who play.

Talk to halls, and start one up. Book touring bands, pay them, put locals on it. Get off forum and drive around charlotte, or anywhere in need of a place. Find a hall, and talk to them in person and get one going. House shows anyone? Get this scene going.

JK. stuart, i dont have anything against you personally. honestly, i think dbdd is only attempting to suck money out of the scene it claims to promote, whether you are conciously doing this or not. you claim that it is to promote NC bands and yadda yadda yadda, but the only thing i see you promoting is your own clothing brand. Also, the big letter shirt that says " i get sick of seeing......they're going of an image, and not the music". this is so perplexing to me. i don't see how you can promote trendy clothes and then suggest that you are trying to do something different. i mean, aren't you contributing to the image that people see as being "hardcore" these days? fashion is one thing that doesn not need emphasis in a music scene, but sadly it seems to be the only thing keeping MOST scenes going. as i said, i dont have anything personal against you. except for maybe your over used -/- and b9 jokes....lol, but that's neither here nor there. ENLIGHTEN ME, please

dear diary, this brainwashed, red white and blue flag flying homosapien actually thinks what he is doing for NC is helping things. In reality all it does is add to his hipster image. what on earth shall i do? i think it might just be all the bullshit moral values of his broken home that have been shoved so far up his ass over the years that they are now starting to eject from his mouth(keyboard).......
sorry, i like to joke sometimes.lol umm yea, ive been going to shows for about 7 years now. this doesnt make me a veteran by any means but still...that's 7 years of my life that i have kept track of the north carolina punk/hardcore/metal/whateveryouwanttofuckincallit scene. i have driven countless hours to support many different bands, now im just happy to be able to play in this scene as my band has just started doing shows this past summer.

this seems like a funny internet fight to throw some cents into:
i got a link to this board through neal who, while i don't know him personally, has always seemed like a stand-up guy.
but you crazy kids on this board have GOT to be joking when you say "i've been going to shows for 7 years". if you have been, then you'd be acting alot different and would of grown up much more by now. if you've been around any decent amount of time, i really think hardcore [or at least the scene that used to be here] was a really great place to mature and be good to one another. now i'm not saying i'm old as dirt, and believe me that people older than me had even better experiences in "the scene" in North Carolina (people in their late 20's now) but if you don't know what people are talking about when they talk about seeing beloved playing every weekend at high school gyms, vfw's and people's houses playing on just that 5 song ep or hopesfall doing the same thing then i just don't quite know if you're at a point where you should try and play the "old school" card. Or getting Victory 98 samplers in the mail and going apeshit over 18 visions when they were good. Or any of the other countless things that date you to years ago....
and for the record, there's nothing wrong with being new to the scene and hardcore. we were all new once and it was fun and we were stupid like you dudes talking all the same shit and joking about orgasming and bouncers and all that crap. i just wish someone woulda told me to shut it instead of letting me make an ass outta myself.
