vtm 120 for 225 - worth it? i assume this will be louder than my lame xxx? vtm 120 is definitely worth 225 i'm currently trying to find a vtm 60, i heard one played this weekend and it fucking blew my jcm 800 away volume wise.

probably should have initially put this in the amp thread instead of off topic anyways... charlotte.craigslist.org/msg/1187526223.htmldont know much about peavey amps but this totally looks like a solid state and NOT a tube like hes advertising. am i missing something?

i saw that... i used to own an identical amp. it doesn't even have transtube technology... i dunno why in the hell the guy would think its tubed up enough to be a 50w amp. or how he thinks he can trick anyone into thinking that its all tube.

i always read for a description of how many of each tube there is, and what kind of tubes are in it, then i search ebay and harmony central for sales and reviews before even considering a purchase. that guy was just trying to fool an idiot, and he will probably succeed.

got a sunn 1x15 today. used to be a beta 1x15 combo, I only needed the cab because I already have a beta bass. grids is officially going to have two huge cabinets and one small cabinet.

I bought a VTM 60 for $350, definitely worth it. I personally think it's one of the better cheaper tube heads.

Yeah I ran the level between half and three quarters and the overdrive almost off. I actually really liked your cab too.

yeah i need to start borrowing someones tubescreamer till i can afford my own sCream Cheese. i'm even thinking about having two tubescreamer circuits modded into the wiring of my amp just because its that essential to my rig.
and yes... my marshall cab fucking owns. i think theres something wrong with a speaker though because it sounds like its kinda spitting at me when i push the thick and creamy clean channel with my heavy playing style. could just be how marshalls sound when they're clean though... no clue really.
and RICK: HOLY CRAP.

I do plan on doing so because now I'm curious as to how it will sound.

I am now the proud owner of a Sunn 412L cabinet. Yay i did some research and found out that your XXX head is a freaking sleeper. meaning, you get a REAL tube screamer, like a sCream Cheese or a TS-9 or a maxon od808 and boost it, it will sound like a monster and almost double your volume. sounds like bullshit, but it works.

i found out tonight that a 50watt jcm 800 fullstack with everything on 10 is the most epic sound any guitarist will ever hear.
i also found out that it will easily drown out a 400 watt bass full stack and a drummer as well. but nonetheless epic.

Does anyone here know much about Basson cabs? I've noticed that they are relatively cheap and I have seen touring bands use them.
Although I have decided on another cab already I'm just curious to see what opinions are said about these cabs.

depending on how cheap half off would be... it may be worth having the parts to restore an old cab and put a set of v30s in it haha.

I figured they were probably cheaply built and I always did question why smaller bands from around NC were endorsed by them. I was just curious because I saw a band full stack one with an Avatar and that's the cab I'm buying so it caught my eye.

Well they're $600 new so I'm assuming that they would be $300 half off so I'd say it'd be worth it as a backup cab and/or for extra parts.
