you can get that same head for 600, and chris had a v4 cab that he got in a roadcase for 200, just have to look the right places. keep your jcm800 levi, its worth two v4's...not kidding.

yeah, v-4's are the fucking shit, but they're found pretty regularly for under 7 or 8.

oh i'm keeping my jcm800. i'm often tempted to tell people i will trade it just to see where they stand with their stuff, since i put the 6550 tubes in it, i get nothing but compliments about how i have "the best tone" said person has ever heard.

its official, this emg 85x is the best pickup on the fucking market.
some of you would probably prefer the 81x just because its more designed for the bridge position, but it seriously took me longer to rip all the old guts out of my LP JR than it did to install all the new stuff. and if you're only installing one pickup, theres absolutely NO SOLDERING REQUIRED. it was seriously the easiest thing i've ever done. it worked on the first try and it sounds amazing. it doesn't feel like an active pickup. it sounds and plays like a passive, giving a natural tone, but the active tone control gives you more control over the sound and the emg itself gives you the fullness that you're used to if you've already got EMGs. i just love how if i hit a low chord then play some high notes over top of it, none of it is lost. every note comes out crystal clear, and thats just through my practice amp. when my marshall gets a taste of this thing its probably going to make me shit a brick. i can get these things all day for 90 bucks tax and all. they're usually 120 after tax if you get them at sam ash or guitar center.
also, if you already have emgs in your guitar, i would recommend upgrading one of them to the x series just for the updated wiring and active tone pot. old emgs plug right into the new wiring. as long as you have some knowledge similar to putting legos together you can get this done on your own just fine.
sorry to sound like a spokes person, but after they sent me this damn thing for free and gave me a discount on all their shit, i felt the need to at least be honest at how amazing this shit is. i will never solder another guitar setup together ever again in my life. not saying i will always use EMGs, but this shit is so genius that if other companies don't follow suit, they'll be out of business in no time.

traded my marshall 1960a 4x12 for a BRAND NEW avatar traditional open back 2x12 with a V30 and a celestion G12 70th anniversary edition in it. fresh orange tolex. this sucker sounds LOUDER than my marshall cab did, half the weight and is gonna make shows and recording SOOOOO much easier.
the only downside is i will be unable to run my VTM at the full 120 watts until I get another 4x12 cab.
so i'm looking for a straight cab. something cheap. like a B-52 ST series or some kind of Peavey cab. if anyone has a cab they would let go for some kind of trade gimme a heads up. i'm in no rush really but you know, figured i would say something now haha.

i still have that b52 cab is it an ST? thats all i wanna know. probably not, cuz if it were you wouldn't wanna get rid of it. thats what i REALLY want though, but anything else i probably wouldn't drop more than 100-150 bucks on just to be honest.

no its a piece of junk. i dont remember what its called though. at maybe? well its not a total piece of junk, but you know we'll figure it out when you get back, by then i may actually NEED it. me and max both played through one at a house show and we both borrowed it from the same dude and i can't remember who the dude was.... it seriously made my jcm800 sound like GOLD. i don't even think it was the ST, believe it or not i think it was the LS... the shitty one made of particle board and b52 speakers with the port in the back. kinda mind blowing at the moment but i will never forget how good that cab sounded.
