its so crystal clear in comparison to previous sets. i used to always talk about how good they were and rick and rob would always be like eh that set sucked. now i know why. when i saw them at the milestone with all the new gear, it was better than the recordings. i wish i was exaggerating. you guys sound so much better now.

Thanks a lot Levi. I hope everyone can make it out to this show Friday, Grids is playing a new song.
Next month we're going to Athens to record an LP with Kyle Spence from Harvey Milk. I think everyone who is a fan of Grids will have their head blown off with how awesome these songs are.
Also, I miss Joe so much. If you saw the special record release covers of our 7" from earlier this year you can expect something along the lines of that again when the LP comes out :-)

That thing is destructive.

i really just wish i had a jcm 800 2x12 combo. so i could run in stereo. i'm considering buying a fender ultra chorus just so i have a stereo amp for smaller shows.

Finally got to play through the vtm last night and I couldn't be happier.
Though I'll probably put 2 more tubes in it, it was loud enough but not quite defined enough. Also I definitely need a noise gate this fucker is noisy. Really mean sounding when you crank it and get the power tubes working thats for sure.

if you add more tubes you'll have to crank it a bit more to get that same mean sound. then again i think flipping one of those gain mod switches may help that too. i'm glad you like it.

I had them all flipped except the compression one. Also I think I may get a tubescreamer or something to push it harder if I put more tubes in it.

mig 50's rule. I played one for a long time. They weren't loud enough for me, but for any reasonable person they would be.

well at the Trying Times show on the 3rd i played out of my Marshall Plexi. these have been in the shop since a little before then. Ill be re-tolexing the V4 soon and getting a new faceplate for it. one of the previous owners was a dipshit and thought it would be awesome to destroy it. looks like shit right now but its loud as FUUUUCK

don't bother getting a new faceplate. Old v4 faceplates kick ass.

what is the benefit of a bunch of pedals vs a multi effect pedal?
|
|
|
Post by rob on Nov 20, 2009 19:25:15 GMT -5
answer: less tone sucking from single pedals. It's just a matter of fact. single pedals have the opportunity for true-by pass or close to true bypass and there is no multi fx pedal that does that.
multi fx pedals are good because they offer a bunch of stuff for a reasonable price, but it sucks your sound out a lot, and chances are you really will only ever use a distortion/overdriver/etc., a delay, and a volume pedal.
